Robes & Confections is a Japanese fashion brand established by Akira Tsuchiya in 2003.
It is sold in over 40 select shops both domestically and internationally, as well as in Japanese department stores.
The brand name "Robes & Confections" is derived from the name given to ready-made garment manufacturers when ready-made clothing first appeared in Europe.
Designer Akira Tsuchiya graduated from Bunka Fashion College with a degree in Apparel Design in 1996 and worked as a pattern maker at Yohji Yamamoto. In 2003, he became independent and established MIKA Co., Ltd., launching the women's wear brand "Robes & Confections."
The collections from Robes & Confections pursue contemporary clothing while firmly adhering to classic cutting and tailoring. Rather than focusing purely on design, they propose new everyday wear from notions such as "What can we do now with jackets, which are originally functional work clothing?"
